Collegium Musicum

Collegium Musicum is Mussoc's Early Music Ensemble. We focus on a range music from the Renaissance and Baroque, offering the chance to perform on period instruments. The Ensemble consists of several small groups, including recorders, viol consorts and a mixed instrument group that combine together in a concert once a term, so there is the option to be involved in as many or as few of these as you wish!

In addition, Collegium offers the opportunity to learn new instruments. We have a teacher who comes in weekly to guide the viol consorts, with a new beginners group starting each year. There are also other period instruments that can be picked up in the mixed group or at your own steam.

Past repertoire includes:

When Daphne from Fair Phoebus did Fly (Anon.)

If My Complaints (Dowland)

Consort arrangements of Playford tunes

Rehearsals are:
Recorders - Not Running in 22/23

Viols -  Thursdays 5-7 (Contact us to join)

Collegium Musicum held an evening concert on the 28th March and it was a great success! There was an array of early English music and a range of instruments and playing from beginner viol players (who had only been playing for less than a year) to the more intermidate players.

Thank you to Brandon Lim for these fantastic photos!
